Tree Guard Deer Repellent is now Deer Guard Quart
Tree Guard has changed it's name to Deer Guard. Same product different name. TREE GUARD is a pre-mixed, latex-based deer repellent that sprays on milky and dries clear. The active ingredient, Bitrex, makes the coated plant taste bad, but is very safe. A detection agent lets deer know the plant is treated.
TREE GUARD leaves a clear sheen that resists wash-off from rain and snow.
TREE GUARD can be used on any non-food plant, and will not harm deer, plants, people, or the environment.

This product may be used to discourage deer from feeding on shrubs, ornamental plants, conifers and non bearing deciduous trees. Use this product only at ambient temperatures between 40º and 90º F. Where deer pressure is high, consider other abatement options including fencing. Do not use on food or feed crops.
Helpful Tips: When possible, apply before deer damage occurs. Don't skimp. Two lite coats are better than one thick coat. Touch-up new growth. Re-apply if deer need more "training". Thoroughly clean spray nozzle by flushing with water after use. Wear gloves and wash hands after use.
APPLICATION DIRECTIONS:
This product is ready to use and should not be diluted. Shake container well before using product. Apply TREE GUARD directly using a pump sprayer equipped with a cone or flat fan nozzle. Adjust nozzle to obtain even coverage. Apply only to dry plants. Hold spray tip 1 to 2 feet from plants to be treated and spray leaves, needles, buds, branches and trunks subject to browsing by deer. Thoroughly wet treated surfaces, but do not apply to the point of significant spray run-off. For small shrubs such as global arborvitae 20-24" high, approximately 15-20 plants can be treated with one gallon of the product. Less product per plant will be needed for treating smaller, or less densely foliated plants; larger, heavier foliated plants will require greater amounts of product. Repeat treatments is deer damage resumes. For best results, apply two coats to bare branches in Fall, after the first frost, and in the Spring, to new growth.
Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
Q: How does TREE GUARD differ from other products?
TREE GUARD contains Bitrex, one of the most bitter substance know to man, and a detection agent that deer learn to leave alone. TREE GUARD bonds to plant surfaces with a latex formulation.
Q: Will TREE GUARD wash off during the next rain?
NO. That's what makes TREE GUARD different. The latex resists water and keeps TREE GUARD working for an entire season.
Q: Will I have to reapply TREE GUARD? Only new growth needs to be protected. Once the leaves drop in the fall, one application should protect until spring.
Q: Can I use TREE GUARD on my vetetables?
No, Bitrex is one of the most bitter substance known to man, and the taste of your vegetables will be effected.
Q: Does TREE GUARD smell bad? Guaranteed free of animal urine or slaughterhouse wastes, TREE GUARD's scent is rather pleasant to humans. However, animals will find the scent a warning not to eat.
Q: Will TREE GUARD leave an ugly white coating on my plants?
NO, TREE GUARD dries clear and shiny. Think of it as a leaf shine for your flowers, shrubs and trees. If anything, the visual apperance is improved.
Q: Is TREE GUARD expensive?
TREE GUARD costs a bit more than other products, but you will save over the course of the growning season because reapplication is not required after every rain or snow.
